An Alston & Bird senior policy adviser will start at McGuireWoods Consulting later this month, her new firm announced Wednesday.
Stephanie Kennan will join McGuireWoods Consulting on Oct. 17 as a senior vice president of federal public affairs, focusing on health care issues. She has worked in Alston's health care practice since she joined the firm in 2007. According to congressional records, CVS Caremark Inc. and Aetna Inc. are among the Alston clients she represented in her lobbying work this year.
Kennan said she has enjoyed her time at Alston, but added that McGuireWoods Consulting offered a “greater challenge.”
“It was an opportunity too good to turn down,” she said.
McGuireWoods Consulting president L.F. Payne said his firm is thrilled to have Kennan onboard.
"Stephanie’s arrival coincides with our strategic plan to add depth and experience to our growing health care team,” Payne said in a statement.
Kennan spent nine years as the senior health policy adviser to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) before she came to Alston. She also has served as federal government relations director for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, assistant government relations director for The American College of Emergency Physicians, a legislative representative to AARP and as an aide to former Rep. Larry Smith (D-Fla.)
