The former managing partner and CEO of the now-defunct Howrey, Robert Ruyak, has joined the global litigation practice of the Washington office of Winston & Strawn, the firm announced Monday.
Throughout his career, Ruyak has represented clients in civil and criminal matters brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Agriculture and the Internal Revenue Service, among other agencies.
“We look at it as a tremendous opportunity for the practice group not only here in D.C. but for the firm internationally,” said Thomas Buchanan, head of litigation in Winston’s D.C. office.
Ruyak joins more than 40 other Howrey lawyers who jumped to Winston soon before Howrey announced it was shutting its doors.
