In the latest departure from Howrey, Roger Klein has joined the Washington office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as a partner. Klein will serve in the corporate practice group. He was previously chairman of Howrey’s corporate and transactional practice and general counsel to the firm.
Klein’s practice focuses on multinational corporate and commercial transactions. He has served as lead counsel in corporate acquisitions and provided representation for a wide range of commercial matters such as debt and equity financing. He has also counseled corporations about internal investigations.
Klein was for several years a member of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility. He served as vice-chair of the board during his last year of service.
"Roger will be a great asset to the firm and we are thrilled to have him join the D.C. office," Ed Schiff, managing partner of Sheppard Mullin's Washington office, said in a written statement. "He brings strong transactional expertise, which complements our existing areas of industry specialty, such as defense contracting, hospitality, real estate and technology."
As the BLT reported in January, almost 70 partners have left Howrey during the past year.
