Volvo Car Corp. is setting up its own Washington lobbying operation in the wake of its sale to a Chinese holding company by Ford Motor Co.
The company has hired Katherine Yehl, formerly a senior vice president at Artemis Strategies, to be its director of government affairs for North America. Geno Effler, a spokesman for Volvo Car Corp., said Yehl will be the only lobbyist in the Washington office. In the past, "We were owned by Ford so everything was done by Ford," he said.
Yehl registered to lobby for the company earlier this month. Her clients at Artemis Strategies included Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, SAP America, Genworth Financial and the Coalition for Auto Repair Equality.
Volvo Car Corp. is a separate company from Volvo Group North America, which also lobbies, though the two share a logo.
