Reed Smith has added partner Walter Nagel to its tax practice in Washington. Previously, he was counsel to Sullivan & Worcester.
Nagel, 51, focuses on federal securities issues, representing large mutual funds in the areas of fund registrations and mergers. He also advises corporations on tax policy and multimillion-dollar tax controversies.
Nagel said Reed Smith was appealing to him because of its “broad international footprint that allows us to serve large companies.”
He is a former chairman of the American Bar Association’s Committee on State and Local Taxes and has counseled the Multistate Tax Commission on the development of a model telecommunications income tax statute.
