Louis Ramos has joined DLA Piper's Washington office as a partner in the litigation practice. Ramos, who started at DLA Piper today, had previously been a counsel in King & Spalding's special matters and government investigations practice.
According to a statement from the firm, Ramos focuses his practice on advising pharmaceutical, health care, and financial services clients in government and internal investigations, as well as compliance work. Recently he led several internal investigations at Pfizer Inc. as part of the pharmaceutical company’s corporate compliance group.
Ramos (Cornell, U.Penn Law) also counsels clients on securities fraud, bank fraud, off-label promotion, anti-kickback violations, pharmaceutical research and manufacturing, health care and drug sales and marketing investigations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the False Claims Act. Before joining King & Spalding, Ramos served as an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, where he tried 19 jury trials and more than 30 bench trials.
In a statement, Robert Mathias, chair of DLA Piper’s litigation practice in the U.S. said, “Having previously served as a federal prosecutor and industry in-house lawyer, Lou brings a unique insider perspective and considerable corporate and government investigations experience.”
Ramos was not immediately available for comment.
