A former secretary at Drinker Biddle & Reath's Washington, D.C. office has sued the firm over overtime pay.
Shawn Havrilla, represented by Arlington, Va. solo-practitioner Nils Peterson, worked at Drinker Biddle between 2006 and 2008. In her complaint, filed last week at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, she claims she was required to work more than 40 hours per week without proper compensation.
Drinker Biddle allegedly knew Havrilla was working extra hours, and “required this extra work as a condition of her employment,” the complaint states.
Havrilla claims in her suit that the firm had agreed to pay her one-and-a-half times her hourly wage for each hour over 35 in a week.
Both Peterson and a spokesman for Drinker Biddle declined to comment.
