Crowell & Moring asked a federal judge last week to hear the age discrimination lawsuit lodged against the firm by a former employee last month. On Aug. 14, the district court assigned the case to Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly.
Mona Saunders, 54, had sued the firm in D.C. Superior Court on July 10, alleging that she was fired after 18 years with Crowell because of her age.
Saunders' original complaint says her work was routinely criticized and she was made to feel that "she was unable to learn new tasks because of her age." The complaint alleges $300,000 in damages.
Saunders' lawyer, Ardra O'Neal of Washington’s O'Neal Firm, says moving the
suit to federal court changes "neither the allegations nor the merits of
Crowell & Moring declined to comment.
