President Barack Obama is shipping another lawyer/campaign bundler off to Europe.
Colorado-based lawyer Bruce Oreck is the president's choice for ambassador to Finland, the White House announced Thursday afternoon. Oreck has practiced at the New Orleans firm Liskow & Lewis, and at his own firm Oreck, Crighton, Adams & Chase. He was also general counsel of his family business-- The Oreck Corporation, which makes Oreck vacuum cleaners-- until 2003.
The Center for Responsive Politics shows that Oreck personally donated $4,600 to Obama's campaign, and bundled at least $500,000.
He's in good company.
Earlier this month, a Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal partner/Obama bundler was chosen for Canadian ambassador. Two Williams & Connolly partners-- also generous bundlers-- are headed to Belgium and Demark.
