A group of trademark lawyers from Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, led by partner Brian Winterfeldt, is heading to Steptoe & Johnson’s Washington office. A D.C. legal recruiter says the group, in addition to Winterfeldt, includes two counsel and about a half-dozen associates.
A Steptoe spokeswoman declined to confirm the news, but a Google search of Winterfeldt’s name yielded this International Trademark Association events calendar, which lists him as a Steptoe partner. (Winterfeldt is scheduled to be the moderator for one of the events, called “Virtual Worlds, Social Networks, Blogs and More.”) His name also no longer appears on Ballard Spahr’s Web site. Ballard Spahr Washington managing partner Allan Winn was not immediately available for comment.
According to a cached version of Winterfeldt’s Ballard Spahr bio, he was a partner in the firm’s litigation department, intellectual property group, and international group, with “experience in assisting clients with the creation of trademark and branding strategies and developing programs to enforce and protect intellectual property rights.”
