Holland & Knight Adds Lobbying Group
Holland & Knight will usher in the new year by adding the lobbying group of MARC Associates to its public policy and regulation practice. All 10 members of MARC will be joining Holland’s 192-person D.C. office, effective Jan. 1.
Richard Gold, the head of the Holland’s public policy practice, says the firm has been looking to grow its healthcare capacity for “the last three to four years.”
“We kissed a lot of frogs because it’s hard to find a match -- because of conflict issues,” Gold says. “But when MARC came to pitch us on a Medicare coding joint venture, we said, ‘The heck with this, why don’t you just come on over.’ The talks went from there.”
At Holland, MARC will be broken down into two teams -- one that focuses generally on intergovernmental relations and another that focuses on healthcare. The intergovernmental relations team will include four MARC members, and the healthcare team will have six.
