The Judicial Nomination Commission on Friday released the names of applicants who are looking to fill the D.C. Superior Court vacancy created two months ago when Judge Rufus King III stepped down as chief judge and took senior status. The chief judgeship, of course, went to Lee Satterfield, who had been hearing a domestic violence calendar when he was tapped for the post.
The list of those who have thrown their hat into the ring is a long one, 20 people, and includes a number of public defenders, Justice Department attorneys, and magistrate judges. The JNC will be accepting comments from the public until Nov. 14.
And the applicants are:

- Teresa Howie, assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia
- Sharon Larkin, deputy assistant general counsel, U.S. Government Accountability Office
- Leonard Long Jr., Law Offices of Leonard L. Long Jr.
- Richard Love, senior assistant attorney general, Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia
- John McCabe Jr., Superior Court magistrate judge
- Aida Melendez, Superior Court magistrate judge
- Craig Moore, attorney at law
- Stuart Nash, associate deputy attorney general, U.S. Department of Justice
