Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal Opens Office in Zurich

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Zurich this week as part of the firm's effort to expand its hotels and resorts practice.

Heinz Bloch and Robert Schlup have both joined the firm as partners, leaving their previous posts at Bloch & Partner, a boutique law firm in Zurich.

The office is starting out small, with only one other associate joining Bloch and Schlup, but Portnoy says that could change soon.

"We believe the Zurich market is ripe for additional lawyer acquisitions, not only in the hotel and resort space but more broadly," Portnoy says. "We expect to add corporate talent in the near term, and we're looking to see if there is an opportunity to grow in one or more practice areas there."
