Stevens to Testify: As we reported on the BLT yesterday evening, Sen. Ted Stevens will testify today in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Williams & Connolly senior partner Brendan Sullivan Jr. said Wednesday that he expects direct examination of Stevens to take at least a couple of hours.
Final Debate: Last night, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain met in the third and final presidential debate. The Washington Post reports McCain criticized Obama’s past relationships and character while Obama linked McCain to President Bush and steered the debate towards the economy.
Firms Looking to Pick-Up Thelen Pieces: Thelen has begun shopping practices to other firms, after the troubled San Francisco firm has had trouble finding a merger partner according to The Recorder. Among interested suitors are Nixon Peabody, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and Alston & Bird.
Another AIG Trip: A group of top executives from American International Group spent about $86 thousand during a recent English hunting trip according to the Associated Press. AIG says the event was planned “months” before the federal government bailed out the company.
