Since Heller Ehrman announced its dissolution last month, its ex-partners have begun to resurface around town. Yesterday, two of them started in Arnold & Porter’s D.C. office.
Kenneth Chernof, previously Heller’s D.C. managing partner, and Carl Nadler both started at Arnold & Porter yesterday in the business litigation practice. Chernof joins as a partner, and Nadler joins as senior counsel.
“Arnold & Porter is a firm that was well known to each of us. We worked closely with lawyers at the firm for many years now,” says Chernof, who declined to comment on the situation at Heller. Chernof says he has shared “a number” of clients in common with Arnold, but would not give names of those clients, or of current clients. According to court filings and a cached version of his Heller bio, Chernof has represented Philip Morris in several matters, including an internet commerce case, Philip Morris USA v. Otamedia, Inc., in the Southern District of New York. Arnold & Porter partner Roberta Horton also represented Philip Morris in that litigation.
According to an Arnold & Porter press release, Nadler handles antitrust litigation, class actions, licensing and contracts matters, and advertising litigation.
Three other ex-Heller lawyers also joined Arnold & Porter’s Los Angeles office this week.
