Along with Brendan Sullivan Jr. and Robert Cary, Alex Romain makes three. The Williams & Connolly partner has joined the Ted Stevens legal defense team, according to a notice of appearance filed with the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia.
Today the team filed its reply to a government brief opposing a change to an Alaskan venue. Among the contested issues is whether moving the trial to Stevens' home state is necessary for the senator to run a viable campaign or if his efforts during an Alaskan trial would prejudice the jury.
The judge should decide on the defense's change of venue motion within the next few weeks the trial is supposed to begin in September.
