Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis has announced that starting today, it will officially and legally be called K&L Gates. The firm has informally used the shorter moniker for marketing and branding purposes since the merger between Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham and Preston Gates & Ellis in 2007.
Although they haven’t legally changed their names, other firms have lately been catching on to the nickname trend. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman announced last month that it will market itself as Pillsbury. And Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan now says it prefers Sutherland.
