After 18 years in its old location, Katten Muchin Rosenman moved into its new Georgetown office today. The firm is making the move to accommodate its growing intellectual property, real estate, and litigation practices. The new Georgetown office, located at 2900 K St., N.W., has 72,000 square feet and occupies three floors. Katten is the largest tenant in a building that also includes Wallace King Domike & Reiskin.
Discussions about potentially moving offices began about a year ago among the firm’s D.C. partners. The talks yielded three options: renew its lease with its old office, located at 1025 Thomas Jefferson St., N.W., if more space could be added; lease in a downtown office building; or lease space in its new Georgetown office.
“We became tapped on space at the other building, and we were growing,” said Roger Fury, managing partner of Katten’s D.C. office. “We were looking for a building that could give us more in terms of meeting our needs with respect to top technology to better serve our clients.”
Katten, which has signed a 15-year lease in its new building, has more than 650 lawyers in offices in Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Irving, Texas, London, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, Calif., and the District.
