The Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism has tapped Mayer Brown partner Rajesh De to serve as general counsel.
The commission is charged with assessing current programs and developing a comprehensive strategy and concrete recommendations for the next administration and Congress. It is headed by former Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and former Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.).
The commission was established by the Implementing Recommendations of the 9 /11 Commission Act of 2007. It is required to issue a report with its findings and conclusions within 180 days of the board’s appointment in May.
De formerly served as counsel with the 9/11 Commission. He conducted interviews of U.S. and foreign government officials and drafted sections of the final 9/11 Commission Report.
