Howrey Vice Chairman Mark Wegener, 59, died of cancer last Friday, June 6th.
In addition to holding the vice chairman post, the Washington-based partner served as co-chairman of the firm’s global litigation practice and as a member of Howrey’s executive committee. Wegener’s high stakes litigation practice focused on intellectual property, securities, antitrust, and international matters, as well as commercial disputes and class actions.
A firm press release included a statement that Howrey’s chairman, Robert Ruyak, gave when announcing Wegener’s death to the firm: “Mark was a trial lawyer’s trial lawyer a mentor, friend, advisor and teacher to many of us who showed us by example the importance of teamwork, friendship and generosity of spirit. We will miss him terribly.”
Memorial service details are available here.
Several of Wegener’s co-workers, friends, and other associates have shared memories of him here.
