Heller Ehrman Donating to China Relief Effort

Heller Ehrman is encouraging its lawyers and staff to help the people of central China recover from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the region last week. The quake was China’s worst natural disaster in 30 years, and the death toll, already in the tens of thousands, continues to climb. The firm’s chief operating officer Brad Scott sent an email to firm employees telling them that Heller will match their donations to the Red Cross. Here’s an excerpt from that email:

“Firms, companies and individuals are responding around the globe to provide emergency and long-term relief and support to the people of Sichuan. Many of you have asked what you and the firm can do to help. As part of that effort, the Heller Ehrman Charitable Foundation will make a direct donation. In addition to that donation, the firm will match employee donations to the Red Cross up to a total of $50,000.”

Other firms are also pitching in. Above the Law had this post yesterday about a similar effort from Dewey & LeBoeuf.
