New Leadership Roles for D.C. Lawyers

For at least a couple of D.C. lawyers, the onset of spring has come with added responsibilities.

Latham & Watkins just announced that D.C. partner John Manthei will help lead the firm’s health care and life sciences practice. Manthei, along with San Diego partner Katherine Lauer, will join Los Angeles partner Daniel Settelmayer as global co-chairs of the group. Manthei helps clients from the medical device, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries navigate FDA regulations. He also advises on M&A deals, corporate compliance, and other transactions for FDA-regulated companies.

At Holland & Knight, partner John Rowley, who splits his time between the Washington and Northern Virginia offices, has been named co-chair of the firm’s white collar defense team. In the new role, he will help lead more than 50 lawyers. Rowley focuses on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. He helps a number of government contractors in procurement fraud investigations and False Claims Act cases.
