The director of McGuireWoods Consulting is taking a leave of absence to help the Republican National Committee adjust to the Straight Talk Express. On Friday, Frank Donatelli became the committee's deputy chairman, taking on the task of coordinating the RNC's election work with that of John McCain's campaign staff. Also on his plate: joint party-candidate fundraising, voter outreach, and political organizing.
Donatelli, who lobbied for Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Patton Boggs before joining McGuireWoods in 2002, plans to return to the firm after the general election, a statement from McGuireWoods said.
