The litigation department at Kirkland & Ellis brought in 2008 with a bang. The Chicago-based firm snared The American Lawyer’s litigation department of the year award (which is actually given out every other year). The competition was open to AmLaw 200 firms, which could also compete for honors in three subspecialties: intellectual property, labor and employment, and product liability.
The other finalists for the overall title were Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Covington & Burling; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; and Williams & Connolly.
Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr pulled down honors for intellectual property litigation practice of the year.
