Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Merges Again

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis has announced plans to merge with Texas-based Hughes & Luce. The two firms began talks this summer, and the partnerships in both firms voted today to join forces officially in January.

Hughes & Luce is a 150-lawyer shop in Austin, Fort Worth, and Dallas, and the merger would create a more than 1,500-attorney firm with offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. It is the second merger for Kirkpatrick & Lockhart this year. At the beginning of January, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham merged with Preston Gates & Ellis.
