Many folks with an interest in politics have read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged (1957) at some point in life, even if they ultimately adopt other ideologies. Now, Rand's novel -- a paean to free-market capitalism -- is being turned into a movie, and the word is that Dagny Taggart, the railroad executive in love with the hero John Galt, will be played by Angelina Jolie. This film reportedly has been a "passion project" for the actress.
I just hope the movie doesn't force Jolie to sit through the book's notoriously long speeches about political theory.
