Fired U.S. attorney John McKay has landed on his feet. McKay, formerly the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington, will become senior vice president and general counsel of Getty Images. The company is one of the world's largest distributors of news photographs. McKay was one of nine U.S. attorneys who was forced out of the Justice Department last year.
Given that McKay lost his last job in an extraordinarily public way, the normal mealy-mouthed press release quotes are worth a read.
"Thanks to recent events, I've come to appreciate even more the powerful role images play in shaping public perception," said McKay, according to a Getty press release.
"We are excited to have John join our team at Getty Images and help us continue to execute on the growth and innovation that is a hallmark of our company," said Jonathan Klein, co-founder and CEO of Getty Images. "Over his long and highly distinguished career, John has shown extraordinary leadership and judgment in positions of authority in both government and business. We will benefit greatly from his experience and wisdom as we continue to expand our business around the world."
Meanwhile, reporters will be wondering if McKay's new job will lead him to stop being so publicly outspoken about the firings.
