Less Access. The Justice Department is looking to put restrictions on the lawyers representing detainees at Guantanamo. The brief says lawyers have caused unrest at the prison and given the news media too much information.
Gulp. The White House held at least 20 private briefings with government agencies about Republican prospects in the months leading up to the last election. The Office of Special counsel is already looking into one meeting, which means their work may just be starting.
Campaign Dollars. SCOTUS took another look at the McCain-Feingold campaign finance act and may be ready to do an about-face.
Iraq. A new law attempts to balance the interests of the warring Sunni, Shiite and Kurd factions, none of which necessarily correspond with those of the United States, nor those of the oil companies and law firms that make up a powerful U.S. constituency. And a D.C. lawyer is in the middle of it.
