Looks like Scooter Libby isn't the only high-profile lawyer without a license (see below). A survey of the Fortune 250 by our sister publication Corporate Counsel found that eight general counsels are not properly licensed in the state in which they work.
The list includes Vernon Baker II of ArvinMeritor Inc.; Michael DeBacker of Dana Corp.; Robert Sloan of Entergy Corp.; Siri Marshall of General Mills Inc.; Arthur Hipwell of Humana Inc.; Terrance Carlson of Medtronic Inc.; Todd DuChene of Solectron Corp.; and John Donofrio of Visteon Corp.
The number of unlicensed in-house counsel isn't limited to GCs. Though nobody knows how many company attorneys aren't properly licensed, past surveys suggest that the total could be in the hundreds or even thousands, Corporate Counsel reports.

Problem is not limited to counsel. Consider company engineers, doctors, and accountants. Some of these may not have formal training in their field. (A business degree seems to qualify one for any of these in-house titles)
