As anyone who has watched "CSI" knows, your DNA can catch up with you. D.C. resident Jerry D. Hill was sentenced to 15 years in prison yesterday for fatally stabbing a woman in 1999 in a case that went unsolved for almost five years until a DNA cold hit linked Hill to the murder, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported.
Hill, who had pleaded guilty last December to second-degree murder while armed, had the hammer dropped on him by D.C. Superior Court Judge Lee Satterfield. On Dec. 18, 1999, Hill raped and repeatedly stabbed Venus Jamison, whose partially clothed body was found in the unit block of M Street in Southwest Washington, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. DNA taken from a sexual assault exam during Jamison's autopsy was analyzed by the FBI and was linked in 2004 to Hill, who later confessed to the murder.
