Scribes at the Marble Palace

Two noteworthy developments in the ranks of the ink-stained wretches who cover the Supreme Court:

* Lyle Denniston, the esteemed longtime dean of the Court press corps, who has been covering the justices since 1958, will be on C-SPAN this Sunday at 8 p.m. in a conversation with host Brian Lamb. He'll describe what it's like to cover the Court and offer commentary on the nine current justices. Lyle currently reports with distinction on the Court for SCOTUSblog.

* Steve Henderson, who has covered the Court for four years for Knight-Ridder (now McClatchy) newspapers, is leaving the beat to return to Detroit, where he'll be deputy editorial page editor of his hometown paper the Detroit Free Press. Henderson has done great work at the Court and beyond its walls as well—for example, in a January, 2007 series on the sometimes atrocious legal representation for those facing the death penalty.
