Following a Washington Post article detailing Smithsonian secretary Lawrence Small's lavish spending, Senate Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is calling for an accounting from the board governing the Smithsonian. "We can’t let its resources be squandered. Those resources need to go to sustain the museums and collections, not to some executive’s champagne lifestyle,” Grassley said. His latest actions follows a letter that Grassley sent to Chief Judge John Roberts Jr., who sits on the Smithsonian's board, asking for more oversight.
